Season

This season we are playing a game called Breakaway. It is modelled after a soccer game but with a few differences to throw in a challenge for the robot. Matches are played 3 on 3, each match is 2 minutes and 15 seconds long. The robot is required to kick a standard soccer ball into two of four nets while driving over obstacles that are 1 foot high and at a 45 degree angle, a very difficult task for a robot. The finale is played in the last 20 seconds of the match where robots must hang from a tower that is 7 feet in the air.

Our team likes to go big or go home. We are currently working on a robot that does everything and does it all well. We spend the first week of the season brainstorming ideas and having all students and mentors contribute an aspect that they believe is important for us to deal with. The next few weeks are spent prototyping our ideas. The final weeks of the season we have nailed down a design and we spend it building, testing and finalizing our robot.
